Scenario comparison

How to use scenarios to compare different hiring and team structure options.

Scenario comparison

Scenarios help you answer "what if" questions: What if we hire two mid-levels instead of one senior? What if we use contractors for the first six months? What if we move the team to a lower-cost region?

AI-generated scenarios

TeamCalc automatically generates scenario suggestions based on your current team composition. These might include:

  • Location shift — moving roles to a lower-cost region
  • Seniority swap — replacing a senior with two mid-levels (or vice versa)
  • Contractor conversion — switching permanent roles to contractors (or back)
  • Headcount adjustment — adding or removing roles to hit a budget target

AI scenarios appear on the Scenarios page and update when your team changes.

Custom scenarios

Click New Scenario to build your own. You can:

  1. Start from scratch with an empty team
  2. Duplicate your current team and modify it
  3. Adjust specific roles, salaries, or employment types

Comparing scenarios

Navigate to the Compare page to see two or more scenarios side by side. The comparison view shows:

  • Total cost difference
  • Headcount difference
  • Per-role cost breakdown
  • Visual bar chart comparison

Select which scenarios to compare using the dropdowns at the top.

Assumptions

Visit Scenarios → Assumptions to adjust the cost parameters used across all scenarios. Changes here let you model different overhead structures, pension rates, or NI thresholds.
