Custom benchmarks (CSV import)

How to upload your own salary data to override or supplement built-in benchmarks.

Last updated 11 March 2026

Custom benchmarks

If you have your own salary survey data or internal compensation bands, you can upload them as a CSV to override TeamCalc's built-in benchmarks.

Exporting current benchmarks

Click Export CSV on the Benchmarks page or team view to download the current benchmark data. This gives you a template with the correct column format.

The export includes columns for role type, seniority, region, company stage, and salary percentiles (p25, p50, p75).

CSV format

Your CSV should include these columns:

| Column | Required | Example | |---|---|---| | Role | Yes | Software Engineer | | Seniority | Yes | Senior | | Region | No | London | | Company Stage | No | Series A | | P25 Salary (£) | Yes | 65000 | | Median Salary (£) | Yes | 75000 | | P75 Salary (£) | Yes | 88000 |

Column headers are flexible — TeamCalc recognises common aliases (e.g. "P50" for median).

Uploading

Click Import CSV and select your file. TeamCalc compares your data against existing benchmarks:

  • New entries — roles/regions not in the current data are added
  • Overrides — figures differing by more than £500 from built-in data are flagged as overrides
  • Matches — figures within £500 tolerance are treated as confirmations (not overrides)

Review the diff summary before confirming the import.

Limits

  • Maximum 500 rows per upload
  • Available on Pro and Growth plans
  • Growth plan users can additionally export filtered CSV subsets

Removing custom data

Custom benchmarks can be removed individually or in bulk from the Benchmarks management view.
